Market Comment: Demand for
ready to cook whole birds was
fairly good, but the inquiry was
lighter on product was available in
some quarters. Parts were in
much the same position as whole
birds and clearances were a bit
more difficult. Less than trucklot
asking prices were one cent higher
at 61-68 cents, and processors could
maintain their normal mark-up
but no more than that. Live sup
plies were moderate. Weights were
desirable to occasionally lighter
than desired. Slaughter schedules
were moderately heavy. The
undertone was steady.

changed on the balance. Trade
sentiment was about steady.
Cartoned egg demand was below
expectation at most outlets and

CATTLE: Slaughter steers on
Monday sold mostly .50-1.00 lower,
and the market was not tested
later in the week. Slaughter heifers
were steady to weak. Market
receipts about 1050 this week, 700
last week and 1,182 a year ago.
