    USDA to Deny Overtime Meat, Poultry Inspections
WASHINGTON - The U.S.
Department of Agriculture will
deny meat and poultry plant
requests for overtime inspection
during the last weeks of fiscal 1986
in order to meet reduced spending
levels required by the Gramm-
Rudman-Hollings budget law*
“This is one of several actions to
keep the inspection budget In line
with the budget law, which
requires us to reduce all spending
by 4.3 percent-whether costs are
borne by taxpayers or by in
dustry,” said Donald L. Houston,
administrator of USDA’s Food

Penn State Names Professor

Michael M. Miller has been named
assistant professor of animal
science extension in The Penn
sylvania State University’s
Department of Dairy and Animal
Science.
Miller, who comes to Penn State
from western lowa, will be
responsible for developing
management software for swine
producers.
For the past three years Miller
has worked as an extension
associate at lowa State University,
