Youth dominate bidding
at All Breed Calf Sale

MEADVILLE - The “All New”
All Breed Calf Sale at the Crawford
County Fairgrounds in Meadville,
April 19th again gave dairy 4-H’ers
an opportunity to acquire new
Ed Doeberiener of Queens Manor and Miles Livingston, 4-H
buyer, pose with the high selling animal which brought
$3,300. Marsha Anthony is at the lead and in back is auc
tioneer John Fenstermaker.

Overall sale average on the 38
animals sold was $496.
The cream of the crop was
Leadfield Warden Roxanna, a
December 1985 Holstein out of
Hilltopper Elevation Warden and
Leadfield Petro Roxy ET. Slated
as a “fancy intermediate calf from
four generations of excellent and
very good dams from the Petro
Pattern,” she sold for $3,300 to 4-
H’er Miles Livingston of
Jamestown.
Consignor Ed Doeberiener of
Queens Manor who owned the calf
with Leadfield Associates, offered
4-H buyers special terms.
The next high animal was an
October 1985 Ayrshire, Sycamore
Meade Johnny’s Mattie, who sold
to Chantelle Zilhaver of Cam
bridge Springs for $825. She was
consigned by Earl E. Keefer Sr.
and Donald Shetterly of Miller
sburg.
She was extemely deep bodied
and Ayrshire breeder Bob Dor
chester announced, “I don’t know
where you’re going to find a better
bred calf than what we’ve got right
here - right now.” She was one of
six Ayrshire calves sold.
The third highest selling heifer
was purchased by Chantelle’s
sister, Monique Zilhaver. She took
home a Leadfield Columbus
daughter for a bid of $725.
