Lancaster Society 1
Lancaster Society 1 met April 5
for a covered dish luncheon at the
Farm and Home Center. Guests
were county president Mary
Shellenberger, county treasurer
Betty Geib and members of
Society 33.
A group from Calvary
Fellowship homes presented a play
which portrayed 11 nameless
biblical characters and illustrated
their importance in biblical
history.
The group is planning a trip to
the Topiary Gardens and the Clock
Museum for June 19. Reservations
may be made by contacting Mary
Clarke at 626-5500.
Lancaster Society 10
Members of Lancaster Society 10
met April 5 at the home of Annette
Habecker.
The bus trip to the Flower Show
and shopping in Philadelphia was a
huge success and the group is
planning two more trips.
Members were scheduled to
serve at Conestoga View on April
If enough members want to
attend the Spring Rally in York on
May 28, a bus will be provided.
Lancaster Society 19
Lancaster Society 19 recently
entertained Society 16 at Hemp
field Church of the Brethren.
Inspiration and entertainment
was provided by Doris Ortman,
who spoke about her experiences
and opportunities since becoming
a victim of M.S. She interspersed
her message with inspiring
musical selections.

President Viola Wolfe reported
that a bus will be available to
transport members to the Spring
Rally at the York Fairgrounds.
The, county project for 1986 will
be the Red Cross Disaster Fund.
Members will sew at Lancaster
General Hospital on April 28.
Member Ruth Newcomer, who
recently celebrated- her 80th an
niversary, was honored and given
a special Farm Women 80th year
birthday pin.
The next meeting will be a
mother/daughter banquet at the
Brunnerville Fire Hall, May 2 at
6:15 p.m.
Members agreed to support the
County Project which is the
American Red Cross.
To celebrate Farm Women’s
Day, Oct. 14, members will attend
a lunch at Willow Valley from 9:30
a.m. to noon at a cost of 86.50.
Nancy Starr reported that the
state project can be anything made
from a Pennsylvania product.
The May meeting will be at the
home of Mary Habecker.
Mrs. Ortman is choir director at
the Evangelical United Methodist
Church in New Holland.
A bus trip to the Topiary Gar
dens and Indian Steps is planned
for Tuesday, June 24. Interested
parties should contact Opal Ruhl at
898-8326.
The next meeting will be May 10
at the home of Alta Miller.

Lancaster Society 25 entertained
12 members of Society 22 and one
board member Saturday, April 12
at the Farm and Home Center.
Dolly Eisch, 924 Wabank Street,
Lancaster, showed slides and
spoke on repairing, restoring and
Berks Society 1 recently met at
the home of Mrs. Joan Haas,
Douglasville.
Mark Price, a 4-H member and a
member of the livestock and
poultry judging team, was the
guest speaker.
The group made plans for the
bingo party for guests at Berks
Heim on April 17th. A tea for Berks
Members of Berks Society 5 met
April 8 at the home of Pearl Miller,
Richland.
Mary Hagg from Mary’s Doll
Shop in Mt. Aetna provided the
program for the evening. From her
speech, some members learned
that their dolls have greatly in
creased in value.
Members voted to donate $25 to
the Berks County dairy farmers
for their Milk Promotion Fund,
which supports programs on dairy
products and industry promotion
such as the dairy princess.
Members also decided to pay the

present a program on stewardship.
Heim volunteers will be held April
24. Members also discussed plans
for a two-day shoo-fly pie sale at
the Reading Fair in September.
Members voted to give a

Board.
In May, the group will meet at
the Pleasantville Diner to
celebrate its 46th anniversary.

reported that members were well

friends at Berks Heim when they
delivered Easter gifts. Members

Celeste Manbeck and Anna Moyer
will attend the dinner.

York Society 7
The April meeting of York
Society 7 was held recently at the
home of Viola Druck. The group
received thank-you notes from the
Mental Health and the York
County Home.
The group gave donations to
Easter Seals and the Arthritis
Foundation.
Ten members will attend the
Spring Rally in May.
The next meeting, a
mother/daughter banquet, will be
at St. Paul’s United Methodist
Church in Manchester at 6 p.m.
Green Valley
Society 26
Green Valley Society 26 met
recently at the home of Mary
Lantz.
The group is planning a trip to
Raystown Dam in June. The group
will celebrate its 26th anniversary
with a meeting at Denny’s
Restaurant on Route 30 in May.
