Weekly-51 Cattle- Prices on
Slaughter Steers and Heifers
turned sharply higher the first two
days this week, but were lower on
Wednesday. However, net ad
vances of 1.00-1.50 were noted on
both steers and heifers. Good
buyer demand was a prominent
factor in the upturn. Slaughter
cows 3.00-4.00 higher. Slaughter
bulls firm to 1.00 higher.
Estimated 5 day receipts this
week 7,500 compared to actuals
last week to 6,668 and 11,200 last
year. Slaughter steers comprised
53 percent of this week’s receipts,
slaughter heifers 38 percent,
slaughter cows 5 percent and
feeder cattle 2 percent.
