Grange holds
D.C. tour
HARRISBURG - A total of 47
Grange members went to
Washington, D.C. last week to
lobby for the organization’s
legislative agenda.
The excursion marked the
seventh annual bus trip to the
U.S. capitol city. The mam purpose
behind this trip was to improve
legislative relations between the
Grange and its Congressional
delegation.
Issues focused on were Gramm-
Rudman, tax reform, relicensing
of hydroelectric projects by
federal government, trade issues,
and strengthening the poultry
section of the Packers and
Stockyards Act.
“This trip is a great opportunity
for us to voice our concerns and be
heard,” said Brenda Shambaugh,
PA State Grange Legislative
Director.
A tour of the National
Geographic Society and the
Pentagon were scheduled. In
addtion, the Grangers had the
opportunity to visit with USDA
officials, both U.S. Senators, and
their Congressman.
QUAKERTOWN - The Penn
sylvania Pleasure Walking Horse
Association will sponsor a clinic to
be held near Quakertown on April 4
and 5.
The clinic will focus on im
proving the gait of horses, and
each horse and rider will receive
individual analysis following video
taping. The clinic will be con
ducted by H. T. Derickson of
Stanton, Kentucky.
Cost of the clinic is $2O per
person or per family. For more
