Slaughter steers and heifers lost
all of an early session advance to
close 50-1.00 lower than last week.
Lower wholesale beef prices again
precipitated the decline. Overall
finish continued fairly attractive,
with mud only a moderate
problem. Slaughter cows 1.00-1.50
higher. Bulls steady to 1.00 higher.
Estimated 5 day receipts 5,350;
actuals last week 6,220, last year
6,474. Steers comprised 39 pet of
the week’s receipts; heifers 40 pet.,
cows 10 pet., feeder 10 pet.
SLAUGHTER STEERS: At the
close mixed good and choice, and
choice 2-4 1050-1300 lbs. 53.50-54.75;
several loads mainly choice
carrying considerable mud 53.50.
Upper end of choice grade not
tested. Few good 51.00-52.50.
