Tractor pullers sponsor Toy Show and Auction in Carlisle
BY MONTIE TAK

NEWVILLE - Sleek and
shining, the tractors stood in rows,
rows.
John Peeres, Whites, New
Hollands and Olivers by the
hundreds. New tractors, old
tractors and some vintage makes
long forgotten. A veritable army of
fanning equipment.
But don’t try to do the spring
plowing with them. These tractors
are all miniatures.

“The problem is nowadays a 101
of farming is big business,” says
Harry Barrick. “With the
economics of it, farming is hard to
get into but people have farming in
their blood.”
“So now they’re farming the
kitchen table instead of in the
fields.”
Barrick should know. He is vice
president of the Cumberland
Valley Tractor Pullers
Association. He and his wife
Revena run a dairy operation at
their R.D. #4, Newville farm. And

They and their neighbor and
fellow toy tractor collector
Brandon Weary have been in
strumental in organizing the First
Annual Toy Tractor Show and
Auction, to be held Saturday,
March 15 at the Holiday Inn in
Carlisle. The show will run from
10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with the
auction scheduled to begin at 7:00
p.m., auctioneer Mark K. Keller
presiding. The organizers also plan
an in-room toy swap for Friday
evening, for both vendors and the
public.
“This is something for the
community to come and see,” says
Brandon. “Especially since this is
a farming area.”
The show and sale are sponsored
by the Cumberland Valley Tractor
Pullers Association. “Harry has
wanted to do a show for about two
years,” recalls Revenna. “This is
something that really interested us
and the Tractor Pullers are using it
as a fundraiser.”
Harry had first introduced the
idea to the other Association
members at the annual banquet
January 4. He says interest was
strong by the February meeting
but adds, “Their interest is really
going to come at the auction, as
they see the miniatures of their
favorite tractors.”
Response to the sale has been
excellent. Brandon says venaoia
