Omaha Weekly
Thursday, Mar. 6
Report Supplied by USD A
Cattle— Slaughter Steer and
Heifer prices declined 1.50-2.00 this
week, with the bulk of the down
turn occurring on Monday’s liberal
receipts. The general market
structure stabilized late Wed
nesday with prices turning sharply
higher but terminal trading
already completed. Loss of 4.00-
5.00 on carcass beef and 2.00-2.25
on boxed beef precipitated the
downturn. Overall finish proved
ordinary while mud a moderate
problem. Slaughter cows steady to
50 cents higher Bulls steady.
Estimated 5 day receipts 7,300;
actuals last week 5,958; year ago
7,231. Steers comprised 44 percent
of the week’s receipts, heifers 43
percent; cows percent, feeders 4
percent.
