Omaha Weekly
Thursday, Feb. 27
Report Supplied by USDA
Slaughter Steers and Heifers
sharply higher for the week. Prices
both classes 3.00-5.00 higher than
Lancaster Fanning, Saturday, March 1,1986-Al5
last week’s closing levels. A
dramatic turn around at direct
points created where sellers
refused to sell late last week and
into this week, coupled with a
corresponding stance by packers
at the carcass and box beef level,
all contributing to sharp upturns
this week. Slaughter cows and
bulls fully steady.
Estimated 5 day receipts of
cattle this week 6,700 compared to
actuals last week of 6,364 and 7,231
last year. Slaughter Steers ac
counting for 42 percent of receipts
this week, slaughter heifers 47
percent, slaughter cows 8 percent
and feeder cattle 1 percent.
