Up until that time, we used a drysink. This piece of furniture was a yellow-grained poplar wood piece that was set in a dark corner behind an Indian door. It was three feet from a coal and wood stove that had a hot water reservoir. Now this was handy, but in the summer the heat in this window less corner was unbearable. After washing the dishes for our family of nine, the water had to be carried outside and dumped. Of course, some spilled over tne edge of the dishpan and over a pend of many years rotted out the corners of the sink. Some drysinks were lined with metal but ours never was. A corner was broken off the drawer and a latch on one paneled door was missing Finally last fall I decided to do something about having it restored. As it needed repairs, I gave it to a professional refinisher and ask that it be given a natural finish. Proficiency awards are based primarily upon the individual’s Supervised Oc cupational Experience Program and career objectives. The youths received a cash award for their achievements. They were: Jeff Zuck of Cedar Crest FFA, agriculture production proficiency award; and Ann Lansberry of Cedar Crest FFA, who received the horse proficiency award. Jeff Zuck Jeff’s project work consisted of work experience on a dairy farm. He also had projects consisting of a dairy heifers corn and soybean, swine animals and rabbits. Jeff served as sentinel, vice president and president of the Cedar Crest Chapter during high school. His FFA activities included county treasurer and county vice president, alumni relations, committee chairman of Super vised Farming and Community Service Committees, State Project Book Contest and State Parliamentary Procedure team. 1 Jeff also worked on various other projects, including Building Our American Community program and chapter banquet committees. Jeff’s career objective is to own and operate his own dairy farm. Ann Lansberry Ann’s project work consisted of work experience on a dairy and a horse farm, raising, training and showing pleasure horses. Ann served as vice president and reporter of the Cedar Crest Chapter during high school.
