Report supplied by USDA
Market Comment: Demand for
ready to cook whole birds and part
items was light to only fair and
generally disappointing. Whole
body clearances were just fair at
best. Movement of parts was slow
to fair on most items, and
discounting was a factor and
stimulating demand in several
quarters. Live supplies were at
least adequate. Weights were in a
full range but mostly light to
desirable. Slaughter schedules
were moderate in total. The un
dertone remained barely steady to
weak.

Market Comment: Prices
averaged slightly in light to
moderate trading this week.
However the undertone was
relatively weak. Off-farm
movement was no better than
adequate and was occasionally
hampered by precautions placed
on movement at some points
within this area. Advanced
bookings had increased and a spot
plant reported adequate comment
through the end of March. Finished
product sales were mixed.

particularly for the retail
promotional activity were
reducing overall stock, however.
