    Mt. Joy Farmer’s Co-op
MOUNT JOY Members of
Mount Joy Farmer’s Cooperative
honored their president, Roy
Alger, and his wife, Doris at their
annual meeting Wednesday. The
Algers, who live in Palmyra,
Lebanon County, were named
Master Farmers at this year’s
Farm Show.
Lebanon County Extension agent
Dennis Hoke showed a slide
presentation about the Algers’
dairy farm and their family, then
presented them with a video tape
from the Master Farmer banquet.
“I’m proud, yet at the same time
I feel very humble,” Roy told his
peers, adding that this kind of
honor comes only once a lifetime.
In other business, co-op mem
bers elected Donald Risser,
Bainbridge, and Robert Brandt,
Elizabethtown, to three-year
terms as directors.
The financial report revealed
that the co-op had shipped over 6
million pounds more milk this year
than last year. They were able to
cut operating costs by 5 cents per
hundredweight, but realized less
profit than last year.

1,505,273 pounds. Close behing
Alelpa Farms in eleventh place
was F. Richard Groff with 1,504,396
pounds.
