Top heifers named in Junior Breeding Beef Show
BY JACK HUBLEY
HARRISBURG - After 10 years
of Farm Show beef competition,
the entire Eisenhour family was
quite pleased when daughter
Susan, 14, chalked up the family’s
first grand champion win with her
Angus heifer, Wanda...which is
short for Gamey Annabelle.
The daughter of Jim and Brenda
Eisenhour of Wellsville (York
Co.), Susan first led her top heifer
to a grand champion title in the
Keystone International Livestock
Expo in November.
A Pine Drive daughter, the Feb.,
’B4 heifer was purchased from
Garney Cattle Co. of Oklahoma.
At reserve in the Junior Angus
Show was Chicletts, better known
as BV Elba 335, shown by Cathy
Shive of Seven Valleys (York Co.)
A Premier Independence
daughter, Chicletts was out of BV
Elba 333, one of the family’s cows.
The (laughter of Gordon and
Dianna Shive, Cathy also took
champion bred-and-owned honors
with her heifer. The Shives ac
counted for the reserve bred-and
owned title, as well, with BV Elba
416, a Pine Drive daughter bom
April, 1984.
Charolais
The Junior Charolais Show
belonged to the Clutter sisters,
daughters of Earl and Carolyn
Clutter of Prosperity (Washington
Co.) In the champion spot was
Stonedells Exodus, an Exodus
daughter shown by 14-year-old
Carla.
Although Drillmasters Heidi,
shown by Crystal Clutter, had
taken grand champion honors in
the Open Show the day before,
judge Dan Eversole of East
Lansing, Michigan, demoted her to
reserve in the junior competition.
Heidi took champion honors in the
bred-and-owned division, and the
Clutters copped the reserve bred
and-owned title as well with 4C
Drillmaster Janette.
Polled Hereford

Dave Schultz, 18, of
Mechanicsburg (Cumberland Co.)
took top honors here with DBS
Miss Prime Time, a heifer sired by
SBF Royal Master Man. This
heifer was named champion of the
bred-and-owned division as well.
Although Karen Rabenold’s
heifer placed only seventh in her
class in the Open Show, KMR
Whispering Tam went all the way
to the reserve champion spot in
junior competition.
A JVF Samuel daughter,
“Whispy” took bred-and-owned
reserve honors, as well. The
daughter of Richard and Nancy
Rabenold, Karen attends Penn
State University, where she is
majoring in Animal Science.
Slmmental
Mike Messick of Messick Farms
warmed up for his grand champion
steer victory later in the day by
showing the Junior Breeding Beef
Show’s champion Simmental. The
heifer, Miss Signal T 3, was named
reserve calf champion in Open
competition the previous day. A
signal daughter, Messick’s win
ning entry took champion honors in
the bred-and-owned division.
A heifer named after a song
originally recorded by the late
Ricky Nelson was named reserve
champion Simmental. Owned by
John Myers of Dallastown (York
Co.), Mary Lou was a Generation
IH daughter bred by Myers from a
cow he showed in last year’s Farm
Show. Born June 10,1985, she was
