“We established this Cimarron stand last spring and took
three cuttings,” says Richard Miller of Catawissa, Pa. Our
first cutting was harvested as haylage with a nurse crop on
June 7. Second cutting, we baled 2150 lbs. dry matter per acre
followed by 1643 lbs. dry matter per acre baled as hay in the
third crop. I thought that was good production from a new
stand. My son, Cliff, and I can’t wait to see what it does next
spring.”

heifer prices, which had shown
gains in Monday trading, lost all
their advantage at midsession and
closed the period with a steady
weekly trend. Wholesale beef
prices decline and a liberal
slaughter note proved to be
dominant factors in the trade.
Slaughter Cows 1.00-1.50 higher.
Bulls steady.
Estimated 5 day receipts 5,700;
actuals last week 8,148 and last
year 8,510. Steers comprised 43
