FFA (Continued from Page D 33) Brenda Balmer The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ammon Peiffer of Lebanon, Brenda Balmer is a student at Cedar High School and a four-year member of the Cedar Crest FFA. She has maintained dairy and com projects, and has served as chairman of the BOAC and Safety Committees. She has also been a member of the Cooperation, Community Service, Scrapbook and Earnings and Savings Com mittees. Brenda was named Star Greenhand in 1982, and received her Chapter Farmer Degree the following year. Her other honors have included the Com Production Award and the County Production Credit Award for 1985. She enjoys showing dairy cattle, quilting and crocheting, and is a member of the Astronomy and Pep Clubs. In the future she plans to in crease the size and quality of her dairy herd with the hope of owning her own dairy farm. Eric Morton A 1985 graduate, Eric Morton is a member of the Little Dutchmen FFA. The son of Lowell and Ila Morton, Eric’s FFA activities centered on Directed Laboratory Experience. Eric participated in dairy judging, placing first in the county contest for two years, and 15th at the state level. He was also a member of the parliamentary Procedure Team for the past two years. Eric’s extracurricular activities included wrestling, baseball and track. He is currently serving in the U.S. Navy as a Fireman Ap prentice, and hopes to make a career in the electronics or computer field. Dale Balmer The son of John and Maryl Balmer, Dale is a senior at Ann ville-Cleona High School. During his freshman year in FFA, he participated in the Creed Contest in which he placed first in county, first in area, second in region and fourth at the state level. He was also named Star Greenhand. During his sophomore year, Dale received the Chapter Farmer Degree and placed first in the county Prepared Public Speaking Contest. He also placed well in a number of judging contests. During his junior year, Dale received his County Farmer Degree. In 1984 and 1985, he was a member of the winning state Parliamentary Procedure Team, and will again be a member of this year’s team. Dale was the chapter’s reporter for 1983, and has served as president for the past two years. He also plans to run for state office in June. Dale’s FFA projects include dairy calves, heifers and dairy herd, as well as soybeans and com. He is president of the 4-H Dairy Club, treasurer of the Junior Holstein Club, and is a member of the school’s football team and chorus. He is a member of Fontana Christian Fellowship Church. Philip Balsbaugh Philip Balsbaugh, 19, of Newmanstown, is a student at Eastern Lebanon County High School and a four-year FFA member. The son of John and Edna Balsbaugh, Philip raises veal calves and has been active on a number of FFA committees in cluding Public Relations,'Conduct of Meetings, Earnings and Savings and Cooperative Activities. He has served as assistant sentinel, assistant vice-president and reporter and has received the Star GreenhancL. and Chapter Farmer Degrees, as well as awards in Dairy Production and awards state degrees Brenda Balmer Dale Balmer Wesley Harding Jr. Daniel Groff Proficiency. He enjoys cars and hopes one day to take over the family far ming operation. Tim Elliott The son of Richard and Kathy Elliott, Tim Elliott is a senior at Annville-Cleona High School. During his freshman year he received the Greenhand Degree, as well as the Star Greenhand Award. During his sophomore year, Tim received both the Chapter and County Farmer Degrees, and placed in a number of judging contests. He also participated in the Area Salesmanship Contest, ip which he placed first as a sophomore and third the following year. Tim has been a member of the Parliamentary Procedure Team since ninth grade. The team placed first in the state in 1984 and 1985. He currently holds the offices of chapter vice president and treasurer at the county level. A member of the National Honor Society, Tim is also vice president of 4-H Dairy Club, and a member of the Junior Holstein Club, the Fontana Christian Fellowship Church and Youth Fellowship. David L. Groff David Groff, 20, is the son of Clifford and Luella Groff of Lebanon. With six years in the Cedar Crest Chapter, David has served as chairman of the Public Relations and Scrapbook Com mittees and has served on the Float and BOAC Committees. He served as chapter reporter from 1982 to 1984, and received first place in state competition for the most articles written and third place in land judging at the state level. David was the recipient of the County Farmer Degree, placed second in the Area Dairy Foods competition in 1983 and placed first in the state in the Project Book Contest for 1984. In addition to membership in the Lebanon County Holstein Club and the Cedar Crest Young Farmers, David is a member of the Church of the Brethren, the church’s youth group and the Men’s Choir. His future plans include con tinuing the family’s dairy and crop operation. Daniel Groff The son of Clifford and Luella Groff, Daniel attended Cedar Crest High School and has been a Cedar Crest FFA member for six years. Daniel served on the state’s top scrapbook committee in 1983, and has also served on the Float and Leadership Committees. The recipient of the County Farmer Degree, Dai placed first in the 1982 Pr .
