A student at Garden Spot High School, she has been-£ member of the Grassland FFA Chapter for four years. Elaine raises market lambs and works part-time at a local farm market. She has been chairman'of the Scholarship Committee and the Cooperation and Community Service Committees. She was co chairman of the Community Service Committee. Elaine has received proficiency awards for sheep production and public speaking. She holds the Greenhand and Chapter degrees and served her chapter as secretary. She placed first in the county Conservation Public Speaking contest, second in the region and seventh in the state. She was a member of the Parliamentary Procedure team that placed first in the county and area and third in the region. She was secretary of the team. Elaine enjoys swimming, reading, hunting, camping and volleyball and plans a career in agribusiness management. Lynford Zimmerman Lynford Zimmerman, 18, is the son of Amos and Marian Zim merman, New Holland. A member of the Grassland FFA Chapter for four years, he has raised pigs for the past three years. Mohawk High School. The 18- year-old FFA’er counts Shropshire sheep and Hereford steers among his projects. During his' four years as a member of the Mohawk Chapter, Mark has served on numerous committees, including the En tertainment, Crop, Log, Banquet, Junior FFA and Citrus Com mittees. Mark served as chapter reporter in 1983, and was elected treasurer in 1984 and president the following year. He has been active on the demonstration, Square Dance and Parliamentary Procedure Teams. An avid outdoorsman, Mark enjoys hunting, skiing, camping and horseback riding. In the future he would like to raise Clydesdale horses and operate a mechanic shop. She is a member of the school newspaper staff and the National Honor Society, as well as the basketball and track teams. Her career plans include attending college to obtain a teaching degree. Smith Jamie Smith, 18, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Smith of New Castle. Jamie is a four-year FFA member and a student at Union Area Middle High School. Jamie has undertaken swine breeding and finishing projects, and has recorded 1200 hours of directed laboratory experience. He has served on the Citrus Sales, Sausage Sales and Scrubgrass Committees. Currently president of the Union Area Chapter, he was last year’s treasurer. Jamie earned his Greenhand Degree in 1982, followed by the Chapter and County Farmer Degrees in 1983 and 1984. A member of the school’s foot ball team, he enjoys hunting in his spare time. Jamie hopes to attend college and major in criminology. Brian D. Young A four-year Mohawk Chapter member Brian voung is the son of Robert McKinley Brian Young David and Bonnie Young of Enon Valley. Beginning in 1983, Brian’s projects have included swine finishing and breeding. He also share-cropped oats and com in 1985. Brian has served on numerous committees, including the Fruit, Banquet, Wood, Crop, Citrus and Flower Sales Committees, and has served as reporter at both the chapter and tri-county levels. He currently serves as chapter vice president. He has placed first in the local Agronomy Contest and received a silver medal at the state level. Brian’s extracurricular ac tivities include three years of varsity basketball and track. His hobbies include hunting, trapping, fishing and camping.
