We should be glad that they are little ones, but even so they are frustrating. The storm window doesn’t fit and time must be taken to adjust the frame. A mouse gets in the utility room and chews a hole in the big bag of flour. The sweet potatoes get dry rot and must all be cooked and frozen. Or a long-awaited letter does not arrive in the mail. Sometimes a cake decides to fall just on the day you promised to take it to church for a funeral meal. Other times, you hear that another cow has a twisted stomach and isn’t likely to survive. Really frustrating is a leak “somehwere” that is discoloring the new plaster in the dining room ceiling. I’ve painted over it so often this summer. Even an odd haircut can Landis Valley gets set to celebrate Christmas LANCASTER - Christmas at Landis Valley will be celebrated at the Pennsylvania Farm Museum of Landis Valley on Tuesday evening, Dec. 17. New to this year’s event will be the addition of candlelight tours of the Tavern and the Seamstress House, which will be traditionally decorated with greens. Christmas baking will be in progress in the Tavern and the making of traditional quilled Christmas ornaments will be demonstated in the Seamstress House. These two buildings along with the Christmas-decorated Victorian Landis Farmhouse and the Christmas toy exhibit in the Toll House will be open from 6 to 8:30 p.m. At 7 p.m. in front of the I-andis Valley House Hotel, the annual outdoor carol sing will be presented. Led By Dean Sauders and the Manheim Township High School Choir, the singing will be Lancaster Farming, Saturday, December 14,1955-B5 It is difficult to remember the good things that happen from day to day. My red impatiens with its twenty blossoms is a beautiful sight each morning. And, the children remembering to telephone now and then is something to look forward to. The tiger cat that sits on the kitchen windowsill and begs for food loves me no matter what-even when I’m grouchy. I’d better get down to business and address some Christmas cards and bake more cookies. We usually pack boxes to give to our many Amish neighbors. It is so nice to be able to bake them ahead of time and then freeze them until they are needed. Oh yes, I think I’ll wrap some gifts too and get in the Christmas spirit. accompanied by the Lititz Moravian Trombone Choir led by Jean Doherty. The Rev. Tom Hoke, chaplain of the Lancaster Catholic High School, will deliver the Christmas message. Homemade cookies, pretzels, and hot mulled cider will be served in the Conestoga Wagon Shed. The Weathervane Shop will be open from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. for Christmas shopping. Admission is free, but canned goods and cash donations will be accepted at the Visitor Center for the Lancaster Food Bank. Dress warmly, bring a flashlight and come celebrate a Lancaster County tradition in front of the bonfire at the Pennsylvania Farm Museum, Route 272, four miles north of Lancaster. “Christmas at Landis Valley” is sponsored by the Landis Valley Associates in con junction with the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Com mission. make me unhappy.
