Heavy demand causes
shortage of IsoPlus
NEW YORK - A sharply in
creasing demand by dairymen
from an 18-state area for East
manl IsoPlus™ Nutritional
Supplement has caused a tem
porary strain on production, ac
cording to the product’s
manufacturer, Eastman
Chemicals Division of Eastman
Kodak Company.
“We feel positive about the
situation,” says Roger K. Mowen,
Jr., field marketing manager for
Eastman’s Animal Nutrition
Supplements. “At the same time,
this demand has created a tem
porary backlog of orders. We are
working diligently to fill these
orders and eliminate the tightness
in supply.”
IsoPlus is available to dairymen
in commercial feed supplements,
carrier packs and premizes from
feed companies, co-ops and premix
companies. Dairy cows fed IsoPlus
as directed produce an average of
4 to 6 lbs. more milk per day.
The product was introduced this
fall in a number of northern and
New England states following its
marketing debut in Michigan in
early 1965.
“Initial demand from dairy
farmers and feed companies has
exceeded our original estimates,”
reports Mowen. “To meet this

planter line
COLDWATER, Oh. - Expansion
of the New Idea Planter line has
recently been announced by Mr.
Tom Kinzenbaw, Vice President,
Marketing of New Idea Farm
Equipment Division.
The most recent additions to the
line can be seen at 1985 fall farm
shows in conjunction with the
unveiling of the company’s new
image and the introduction of their
new equipment colors.
The 900 Series Planter line,
which includes the well
established Double Frame Planter
and the Single Frame Planter
models, has grown with the ad
dition of New Idea’s Forward Fold
Planters.

underway to expand the capacity
of our existing semi-works plant in
Longview, Texas. In addition, the
company’s new ‘world-scale’
plant, under construction at that
same location, is expected to be in
operation in June, 1966.”
Mowen continues, “We know
IsoPlus has incredible potential for
increasing efficiency and
production in the dairy industry
based on results of both university
and field testing over several
years.
“For example, in 54 on-farm
trials conducted this year at top
dairies across Michigan, nearly 85
percent of the 7,500 cows fed
IsoPlus showed an improvement in
milk production. The average
response from all cows fed IsoPlus
for three months was 4.2 lbs. more
milk per cow per day.
“Given these results,” adds
Mowen, “plus the fact that a
dairyman should be able to obtain
an average of at lea«t a two-toone
benefit to cost ratio using IsoPlus,
it is understandable why demand
is high for the product. A 4 we make
every possible effort to minimize
any inconvenience to our
customers, we appreciate their
understanding and patience. We
hope to have our supply line filled

Once the planter is unfolded, all
that is required is to lock the wings
in place and the planter is ready
for operation.
The Forward Fold Planter
features dual transmission
assemblies, one on each end of the
planter, to provide power to the
center frame and each wing
section.
Row markers on the Forward
Fold Planters are low profile in
design. The 8-row planter features
bi-fold markers and the 12 row is
equipped with triple folding
marker arms.
The 900 Series Forward Fold
Planters feature Kinze Row Units
for highly accurate planting
performance. Both sizes are
available with a number of op
tional attachments for added
flexibility to 8 and 12 row planting
operations.
A new Case International 475 cushion gang disk harrow, designed to operate in
rugged field conditions, is now available. This 21-foot folding version with 7*/2-inch disk
spacing is the largest model 475 harrow. All harrows in the line are equipped with
patented long-lasting, durable Earth Metal blades.

Deutz-AUis develops advanced
INDEPENDENCE, MO. - In
keeping with its leadership edge in
harvesting technology, the
Gleaner Combine Division of
Deutz-AUis Corporation recently
unveiled its new R-Series rotary
combines. The R-Series brings a
new generation in Gleaner com
bines - another in a series of new
products from Deutz-AUis.
“The R-Series is the
evolutionary offspring of the
popular N-Series, which was in
troduced in 1978. The E-Series goes
a step beyond the N-Series with
many technological improvements
that will provide farmers an even
more efficient, quality line of
rotary combines,” commented
tom Stadtmueller, Gleaner
combine marketing manager.
Of the many unique features on
the R-Series, the most important
include: 1) a new straw spreader
system, 2) a new high-reach bin
unloader, 3) a new operator seat,
and 4) new Deutz-AUis styling.
Stadtmueller said, “the im
provements make the R-Series the
most advanced and efficient
combine line ever offered by the
Gleaner Combine Division.”
The R-Series consists of three
models; R 5, Rfi, and R 7. The R 5
can handle four-tonight row com
heads for 13 to 24 f t. flex headers
and has a new grain bin capacity of
225 bu. The R 6 is designed for six
to-twelve row com heads or 15 to 24
ft. flex headers and has grain bin
capacities of 225 or 240 bu. The R 7
has the industry’s largest grain bin
capacity at 310 bu. and handles flex
headers to 24 ft. wide and 12-row
com heads. All three R-Series
models operate with 15 to 30 ft.
rigid headers.
The new R-Series fits the in
creasing popularity of ridge-till
and minimum tillage farming
practices. With available wheel
tread spacmgs of 120 in. and 145 in.,
the wheels of the R-Series fit ridge
till rows perfectly. The optional 145
in. spacing is achieved without
spacers simply by reversing the
drive tires.

The new VariFlow dual straw
spreader is a feature tailored to the
increased practice of conservation
tillage. An optional natural spred
chaff spreader with adjustable
tailboard and fins is also available
for wider distribution of the
cleaning shoe discharge. The
speed of the dual straw spreaders
can be quickly changed to obtain
four different width settings to
spread the straw evenly over a
range of widths. The VariFlow
spreader width settings of 15 ft., 20
ft., 24 ft., and 30 ft. are designed to
meet the spreading requirements
of the available header cutting
widths. Paddle pitch is adjustable
to produce a variety of spreading
patterns.
The standard dual VariFlow
straw spreader complements the
optional chaff spreader to
distribute crop residue evenly over
a wide area. This distribution
behind the R-Series combine line
1) promotes faster decomposition
of material, 2) improves minimum
tillage practices, 3) allows tillage
work to be done more uniformly,
resulting in better fertilizer,

front to back and eliminates
digging in and shallowing out in
rough terrain.
The new harrow is available in
six widths. Non-folding versions
range from 11 ft. 6 in. to 13 ft. 10 in.
Folding versions run from 17 ft. 5

Another feature of the R-Series
is a new high reach bin unloader to
accommodate wider headers and
higher grain trucks or wagons. The
unloader tube reaches 22 in. higher
and 26 in. longer than its N-Series
predecessor. To swing the
unloader out, a hydraulic cylinder
attaches directly to the swivel,
eliminating the need for chain
adjustment.
The unloader tube in the tran
sport position is 7.5 in. higher than
the N-Series and fits perfectly with
the R-Series longer rear hood and
dual spreader system. The cradle
has been moved over the rear axle
for better tube support.
For better operator comfort, the
R-Series is equipped with the new
