The program will be held twice during the day, 1 p.m.-4 p.m., and 7 p.m.-lO p.m., and is designed to inform homeowners and 'tann ers who have their own water system what should be done to insure a safe water supply. Water quality experts Dr. Earl Hess of Lancaster Labs, and Dr. Karen Mancl, Dr. William Sharp and Joe Makuch, Penn State University water quality specialists will present in formation on water quality, treatment, nitrates, and bacteria contamination. The speakers will also be on hand for private consultations to answer individual questions and concerns. In addition, the Extension Service has arranged for Biometrics of Quarryville and Lancaster Labs of New Holland Pike, Lancaster, to offer water tests at a reduced price. USDA raises tobacco fees WASHINGTON - The U.S. Department of Agriculture has increased the fees it charges for voluntary tabacco inspection performed by department per sonnel, a USDA official announced. Lioniel Edwards, a marketing official with USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service, said the hourly rate for tobacco inspection during regular working hours will in crease from $20.45 to $22.30.
