Carolyn Belczyk, associate county
agent for the Penn State
Cooperative Extension Service in
Erie County, received an
Achievement Award from the
National Association of County
Agricultural Agents.
As 4-H program coordinator in
Erie County, Belczyk oversees a
program comprised of 952
members, led by 135 adult
volunteers in 44 clubs and special
interest groups. The Eric County 4-
H program has an exceptionally
high level of leader involvement in
planning, executing and
evaluating 4-H activities.
In 1977, Belczyk introduced the
Rats for Good Nutrition program,
a unique animal feeding demon
stration that has been used to teach
Eric County children the basis for
good nutrition. It was introduced
as a state program for 4-H EFNEP
(Expanded Food and Nutrition
Education Program) particants in
1981.
