Dutchman, owned by Huntingdon Farm,
Alexandria, Pa., and Northcote Farm,
Forest, Va., took reserve senior bull
honors at the Eastern National Livestock
Show’s ROV Angus Show.

TIMONIUM, Md. - Judge Joe
Bill Meng, Bowling Green, Ken
tucky, placed some of the top
Angus cattle in the East at the Roll
of Victory (ROV) Angus Show held
during the 1985 Eastern National
Livestock Show in Timonium,
Maryland. There were 96-head
competing for the top honors.
After eyeing the championship
bull line-up, Meng walked over to
his senior winner, Brost Power
Drive and slapped him as grand
champion bull. This January 1983,
Pine Drive Big Sky son is owned
by Premier Angus Inc., Clover
dale, Indiana; Brost Angus Farm,
Oxford, Indiana; and B&L
Properties, Shawnee, Oklahoma. A
June 1984, High Voltage son,
Waldeck Shocker took home the
reserve grand champion bull
banner for Waldeck Farm,
Crestwood, Kentucky; Hurricane
Hill Farm, Nicholasville, Ken

.In the group classes, Pine Drive
Big Sky progeny won the get-of
sire ribbon. The champions were
exhibited by Premier Angus Inc.,
Waldeck Farm and Northcote
Farm, Forest, Virginia. The blue
ribbon in the junior get-of-sire
division went to offspring by

NEWARK, Del. - The Delaware
Cooperative Extension Service has
published a management guide to
help owners of small flocks grow
the best poultry possible. Written
by University of Delaware ex
tension poultry specialist Daniel H.
Palmer and poultry pathologist
Edwin M. Odor, the guide
discusses such basic con
siderations as local zoning and
environmental restrictions,
housing, and flock selection.

to $2,500 civil penalty
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Marx
Bros. Meats Inc., a meat packer at
Shrewsbury, N.J., and its owner,
Frank M. Marx, have agreed to a
$2,500 civil penalty and a cease and
desist order from the U.S.
Department of Agriculture.
A USDA official said Marx
agreed to the penalties to settle
federal administrative charges of
slow payment and failing to pay for
lambs purchased from a supplier
at Lebanon, Va.

USDA’s Packers and Stockyards
Administration, said Marx pur
chases lambs in central and
southwest Virginia, eastern Ohio,
and eastern Pennsylvania.
Jones said Marx has since made
payment for the $28,500 worth of
lambs involved in the complaint.
In agreeing to the penalties,
Marx neither admitted nor denied
the charges filed by USDA in May
under authority of the Packers and
Stockyards Act.
