senior and reserve champion
Polled Hereford female banners at
the 258 head International
Hereford Show in Toronto, Canada
were SBF Royal Gypsy (shown
with her March 1985 bull calf, SBP
Royal Gypsy King 8511.)
Gypsy, a March 1983 daughter of
Beartooth Nomad 421 N, is jointly
owned by Spring Bottom Farms,
Fairfield, PA; Oak Hill Farm,
Salem, Ore; Pleasant Knoll
Farms, Frederick, Md; and Stone
Ridge Farm, Livingston Manor,
N.Y.

honors at Toronto’s International Hereford Show.
Harrisburg to host rodeo finals
HARRISBURG - More than 200
of the nation’s top rodeo con
testants will be competing at the
Pennsylvania Farm Show Com
plex in Harrisburg November 16
and 17 for several thousand dollars
in prize money and championship
awards. A Professional Rodeo
Association-sanctioned rodeo, will
be the end of the trail for the 1985
Pro Rodeo season.
The rodeo will feature two
in 4-H'ers hold beef roundup
Gypsy earned senior champion
honors at the 62nd National Polled
Hereford Show, Fort Worth, Texas
and the grand champion award at
the 1985 National Western Stock
Show, Denver, Colorado. She also
was grand champion female at the
50th Anniversary LSU Open Beef
Show, Baton Rouge, La and
reserve cow/calf champion the
Standard of Perfection Show in
Knoxville, Tenn.
Gypsy is actively in an embryo
transplant program at Spring
Bottom Farms, where she was
tyirn and raised.
performances, one Saturday at 8
p.m. and one Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
with the toughest bucking stock,
and champion cowboys and
cowgirls.

GREENCASTLE - The
Franklin County 4-H Baby Beef
Club held its annual Round-Up
Saturday, Oct. 5, at the Green
castle Livestock Market.
Winning grand champion honors
was a 1,210 pound Angus-Chi
crossbred steer named “Gangus"
owned by Kurtis Meyers, 16, of
Greencastle and shown by George
Kuhn of Greencastle. Kurtis was
unable to show his steer because of
recent surgery. The grand
champion steer sold for $2.30 a
pound and was purchased by
County Market, a new grocery
market in Chambersburg.
Reserve grand champion honors
went to Regina Lebo, 16, of
Greencastle who showed a 1,295-
pound Angus-Chi-Limousin
crossbred steer named “Black
Sambo". Sambo sold for $1.87 a
pound, and was also purchased by
County Market. Regina also won
first in fitting and showing in the
junior division and showed Sambo
to the honors of champion fitter
and showman.
Daren Statler of Greencastle
showed his 1,145-pound Charolais
steer to champion of the medium
weight division. County Market
again purchased this steer for $1.12
a pound. Daren also placed first in
showing in the novice division.
Kerry Golden of Greencastle
showed her 1065-pound steer to win
medium lightweight champion.
This steer was purchased by
Sollenberger Silos of Cham
bersburg for $1.12 a pound.
The last champion of the show
was shown by Jacob Mann of
Waynesboro whose 1030-pound
champion won the lightweight
division and was purchased by
Hostetler’s Truck Bodies of
Trailers of Milroy, for a $1 a pound.
The sale’s 38,690 pounds’ of beef
sold for $38,576, for a sale average •
of nearly $1 a pound.
