Slaughter steer and heifer prices
declined 50C for the week, with
buying interests seldom operating
aggressively. C.M.E. interests
bolstered a segment of the steer
trade with purchases of
deliverable kinds. Overall finish
proved fair; although ‘over-done’
and/or ‘overweight’ kinds still
sprinkled through the receipts and
discounted accordingly. Slaughter
cows and bulls mostly 2.00 lower.
Estimated 5 day receipts 8,491;
actual last week 6,131, year ago
6,127. Steers comprised 35 percent
of the week’s receipts; heifers 29
percent, cows 6 percent; feeder 29
percent.
