Pennfield names Horn president
LANCASTER - Donald E.
Horn, 604 Woodbine Road, has
been named President of Pennfield
Corporation, 711 Rohrerstown
Road. The announcement was
made following the annual meeting
of the corporation’s Board of
Directors. He succeeds Ernest 0.
Horn, Jr., York, who has been
appointed Chairman of the Board.
Donald Horn, the previous
Executive Vice President and
Secretary, has also served as
Manager of Pennfield Farms
Eggs; and Vice President of the
company’s Allied Division.
Other officers elected for Penn
field Corporation at the annual
board meeting were Richard A.
Hobday, Vice President of Finance
anb Treasurer; Ernest 0. Horn,
111, Vice President and Secretary;
Ray S. Lehr, Vice President;
Richard W. Wright, Controller and

Doebler’s celebrates 50th birthday
Leading the 50th birthday celebration of Doebler’s Hybrids were .esident Ted
Doebler, second from left; his mother, Hazel Doebler, widow of the founder; sales
manager Willard Jones, left; and research director Bill Camerer, Jr., right. The late
Taylor Doebler launched the Jersey Shore farm in the seed business with a 19-acre crop.
This year the Doebler family will harvest 2075 acres of seed corn, making it the single
biggest producer in the East. Doebler brand hybrids are now sold in eight Eastern
states.

completed the rigorous
requirements of the Milk
Sanitation Division. In addition,
her laboratory at Biometrics is
now certified to test milk, frozen
desserts and milk products in the
Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Mrs. Croyle’s many years of
clinical experience helped prepare
her to pass the concentrated
course and on-site performance
evaluation. Before joining her
husband, Dr. Richard C. Croyle, at
Mrs . Croyle certified
Biometrics she was employed by
York Hospital. At the hospital,
Nancy was an instructor in
microbiology for the School of
Medical Technology and later the
supervisor of the Department of
Microbiology.
Nancy attended Drexel
University and graduated from the
York Hospital School of Medical
Technology. She is a registered
medical technologist and a
member of the American Society
of Clinical Pathologists and the
American Society for

outstanding state university and
land grant college juniors and
seniors throughout the U.S. were
awarded $750 scholarships through
the Ralston Purina Scholarship

The scholarships, awarded
annually for the last 31 years, are
intended to encourage agriculture
studies. This year, schools across
the nation, from the University of
Hawaii to the University of Maine
were represented. Winners were
selected on the basis of scholastic
achievement, participation in
