participating in various events
across the state.
Stephanie credits her knowledge

While being poultry queen is
something Stephame had con
sidered for a long time, she said it
took a nudge of encouragement
from her father for her to enter the
contest.
A 1985 graduate of Conestoga
Valley High School, Stephanie is
employed as a secretary at C.B.
Hoober, Intercourse. Her parents
have 30,000 laying hens and
process their own eggs.

ways to prepare eggs and en
couraged consumers to “don’t
delay, buy your eggs today.”
Stephanie received her crown
from 1984 Lancaster Poultry
Queen Gwen (Yoder) Snader and
1984 Pennsylvania Poultry Queen
Jackie King of Adams County.
Constance Martin, the 20-year
old daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Leßoy Martin, Elizabethtown, was
selected alternate poultry queen
and will assist Stephanie in

Eighteen-year-old Stephanie Yost is the poultry industry’s
new representative for the coming year. She was named
Lancaster County poultry queen Aug. 2.

A 1983 graduate of
Elizabethtown High School and Mt.
Joy Vo-Tech, Connie is a cook at
Quality Inn in Centerville. Her
father has 98,000 broilers.
During the contest ceremonies,
County Commissioner James
Huber proclaimed August Poultry
Month in Lancaster County. Also
making an appearance at the
contest was V.I. Peeps, the poultry
industry’s mascot.
Other contestants for the Poultry
Queen title were Denise Mumma,
Mt. Joy; Suzanne Groff, Manheim;
and Linda Kready, Manheim.
