4-H seamstresse

MECHANICSBURG - It was
the culmination of a summer of
hard work for 83 4-H seamstresses
of the capital section of the
southeast extension region as they
met at the Cumberland Valley
High School for fashion revue.
They were the finest 4-H sewers
from the seven counties in the
section, and they showed off their
abilities to the judges and their
fellow 4-H’ers in a day of “Fashion
Pursuit.”
Only a small percentage of the
girls got ribbons, but they were all
winners in their own counties, and
their talents were evident in the
fashionable, up-to-the-minute
styles. <*■
Eight 4-H’ers from the 48 senior
participants were selected to
represent the section at State 4-H
Days in August at Penn State. In a
winning tradition, four were
selected from Lancaster County.
There were: Alison Bradley,
Lititz; Andrea Eversole, Lititz;
Cindy Hamish, Willow Street; and
Cindy Trimble, Peach Bottom.
Also selected were: Jacki King,
York Springs, Adams County;
Karen Eckerd, Mechanicsburg,
Cumberland County; Tammy
Orner, Mechanisburg, Cum
berland County; and Christine
McDonald, Shippensburg,
Franklin County.
Seniors who received blue rib
bons were: Adams County- Noel
King, Lela Mummert, and Tina
Renoll; Cumberland Count- Dana
Heine and Vicki Holtry; Franklin
County- Marina Keefer; Lancaster
County- Lisa Heisey, Alissa
Hoober and Tiffany Rohrer; and
Lebanon County- Sylvia Royer.
Bucks County 4-H'ers model sewing projects
Eight Bucks County 4-H’ers
represented the county in the
Southeastern Region 4-H Fashion
Revue, held recently at Cum
berland Valley High School.
Those taking part in the
Regional Review are: Dawn
Godshall, 12, Warrington; Beatrix
Histand, 11, Sellersville; Sara
Sempowski, 13, Kintnersville;
Darlene Buckman, 15, Perkasie;
Erica Glaab, 15, New Hope;
Amelia Histand, 14, Sellersville;
Chris Rosanelh, 16, Dublin; and
Betsy Walton, 14, Doylestown.
The 4-H’ers made the outfits they
modeled as part of their
clothing projects. Along with in
regional fashion revue. Seated are Linda Heisey, Lititz,
Lancaster County; Healther Reinhard, Millersburg, Dauphin
County. Standing are Amy Fyock, Lititz, Lancaster County;
Jenny Zemba, Palmyra, Lebanon County; and Heather Miller,
Lititz, Lancaster County.
In the junior division, Lancaster
County led the way with three of
the five gold ribbons awarded.
Winners from Lancaster were;
Amy Fyock, Linda Heisey, and
Heather Miller. Other gold winners
were Heather Reinhard, Dauphin
County and Jennie Zemba,
creasing their skills in clothing
construction, they learned about
wardrobe selection, color coor
dination, the importance of good
posture, and other aspects of good
grooming.
County 4-H’ers will compete with
those selected from other counties
in the Southeastern Region. The 10
top regional winners will be
awarded gold ribbons. Each
county contestant will receive a
certificate of participation and a
medal of honor.
The 10 Gold Ribbon winners will
vie with the top winners of other
Regions for state' honors, at the
State Fashion Revue, held in

Blue ribbon winners in the junior
division were; Renee Mickey,
Adams County; Christine Bert,
Franklin County; Lori Breckbill,
Lancaster County; Beth Brandt,
Lebanon County; and Jenny
Gladfelter, York County.
August on Penn State’s University
Park Campus during State 4-H
Achievement Days, judges will
select an Honors Group of 10
finalists. These 10 4-H’ers will
compete for the top state award,
part of which is an expense-paid
trip to the National 4-H Congress in
Chicago, Dec. 1 through 5.
