MARTINSBURG - The Blair
County Holstein Club held its
annual sale on Friday, July 26, at
the Morrisons Cove Memorial
Park. A good crowd turned out to
see 39 quality dairy animals
presented for bids.
The Blair County consignments
averaged $1283, and the two top
animals of the sale each went for
Inter-State
SOUTHAMPTON - Inter-State
Milk Producers’ Cooperative is
sponsoring six youth to attend the
58th annual meeting of the
American Institute of Cooperation,
July 29 to Aug. 1 at Kansas State
University, Manhattan, Kan.
The six youth, all sons or
daughters of Inter-State members,
will represent the cooperative at
the National Institute on
Cooperative Education. Their
selection was based on an ac
tivities report and participation at
the Pennsylvania Association of
Farmer Cooperatives Summer
Institute held earlier this month at
Juniata College.
Representing Inter-State are:
Bill Blank, R 1 Parkesburg; Susan
Kaye Fisher, R 1 McVeytown;
Michael C. Hershey, Gordonville;
Kathy Sollenberger, R 1
Williamsburg; David Hudson, R 1
Milton, Del.; and Linda Pool,
Mickletown, N.J.
A student at Octorara High
School, Blank is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Elam R. Blank. He is student
advisor of his FFA Chapter and is
treasurer of the Chester County
FFA Champter. He is a member of
the National Honor Society, the
National Distinguished High
School Students Society and the
Mennonite Youth Fellowship
group.
Fisher, the daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. William H. Fisher, attends
Mt. Union Senior High School. She
is active in the Captain Jack FFA
HARRISBURG - Penn
sylvania’s June egg production
totaled 381 million three percent
above June 1984, according to the
Pennsylvania Crop and Livestock
Reporting Service. The average
number of layers on hand during
June 1985 was 17.8 million com
pared with 17.4 million on hand a
year ago. Egg production per 100
layers was 2,146 compared with

Bransdale Farms of Tyrone
consigned Bransdale Valiant
Raquel-ET. This 3-year-old S-W-D
Valiant daughter is scored GP-83.
On her two-year-old record she
produced 17,460 pounds of milk and
656 pounds of fat with a 3.8 percent
test. Steve Pheasant of Mar
tmsburg put the $3OOO bid on
Raquel.
Jay L. and Kirk A. Hillegass of
sponsors youth to
Chapter and serves as an officer.
She is a member of the Future
Business Leaders of America, the
Girls Athletic Association and the
Atkinson Mills Church youth group
and bell choir. She is also president
of her local 4-H Club.
The son of Mr. and Mrs. Norman
L Hershey, Hershey attends
Pequea Valley High School and is
vice president of the FFA Chapter.
He is a member of the varsity club,
the varsity soccer team and the
junior varsity basketball team. He
is also a member of the Calvary
Monument Bible Church youth
group, the Pa. Wild Turkey
Federation and the Pa. Junior
Holstein Association.
Sollenberger, the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. David Sollenberger,
attends Williamsburg High School.
She is an officer of her FFA
Chapter and competes on the dairy
judging team. She is a member of
the high school band and chorus
and is a reporter for the Buc
caneer, the school’s paper. She is
also a member of the Blair County
4-H Baby Beef Club.
The son of Mr. and Mrs. James
Hudson Jr., Hudson attends Cape
Henlopen High School and is a
member of the band and Honor
Society. He is a 4-H member and
participates in dairy and
agriculture activities. He also
competes in team roping contests
and is a member of the
Professional Rodeo Cowboys
Association, the Eastern Shore
Ropers Association and the
Egg output up

The nation’s laying flocks
produced 5 5 billion eggs during
June, the same as a year ago. The
total number of layers during June
averaged 269 million, down three
percent from a year ago. Egg
production per 100 layers was 2,034
compared with 1,999 eggs in June,
1984.
Berlin consigned the other animal
that sold for $3OOO Hillmont Bell
Tnsta is a two-year-old daughter
of Carlin-M Ivanhoe Bell. She is
due in September to Cal-Clark
Board Chairman. Tom Henderson
purchased this heifer.
The third high selling animal
was consigned by Donald Hoover
of Martinsburg. Gra-Don Ivan Eva
is a Wagnercrest Ivanhoe
Astronaut daughter and is due in
December to Lemaz Pawnee
attend AIC
Cowboy Chapter of Christian
Athletes.
A student at Woodstown High
School, Pool is the daughter of Mr
and Mrs. E. Owen Pool. She is vice
president of her FFA Chapter and
participates on the dairy products
judging team. Named the New
Jersey FFA Member of the Year,
she is also a member of the varsity
softball and hockey teams and is a
4-H dairy and cooking club
member.
The American Institute of
Cooperation, based in Washington,
D.C., sponsors the National In
stitute on Cooperative Education
to explain the role of cooperatives
in today’s business world. The
theme for this year’s conference,
“Strategies for Strength,” focuses
on strategies planned and designed
to keep cooperatives strong, ef
ficient and innovative.
