Report Supplied by USDA
Slaughter steers and heifer
prices continued their downward
trek this wek, with closing levels
1.50-3.00 below a wek ago. Demand
to most interests only moderate at
best, as wholesale beef prices
again lower. Selected loads of
choice 2-3 steers scaling 1050-1125
lbs. enjoyed the best of the dull
trade, while 1300 lb. and up kinds
subjected to discounts. Average
steer weights dropped
significantly, as fewer “over-fed”
kinds marketed this week and
more “new-crop” cattle present on
the market. Cows 2.00-3.00 lower.
Bulls 1.00 lower.
