    Indiana Co. 4-Her Wins at

NEW KENSINGTON - Tension
filled the atmosphere as, 4-H’ers,
leaders and parents anxiously
waited their turn to watch, judge,
or present a demonstration or
public speech at the Southwest
Regional 4-H Activities Day. Eight
southwest Pennsylvania counties
participated in the event at Penn
sylvania State University’s New
Kensington campus on July 12.
Patrick Zagrodinchek, Indiana
County, was named the high point
junior demonstrator with a score
of 99.5. As the high point demon
strator, Patrick, a first year 4-H
member, was asked to present his
demonstration entitled “The
Shepherds Cupboard” to those in
attendance.
Margee Wolff, Westmoreland
County, presented her high point
speech entitled “Responsibility
and One to Grow On.” Margee,
senior public speaking entrent,
also received a 99.5 for her
presentation.
Following are those who
received a blue ribbon, indicating
a 90 percent or higher in their
respective categories. Trophy
winners are the top scorers in each
category. The junior public
speaking winners include

Winners in the senior public
speaking category are Sandy
Bevington, Beaver; Penny Hom
berger, Fayette; Kristy Kennedy;
Butler; Jeri Ludolff, Allegheny;
Susan Nehrig, Indiana; Ronna
Leah Ritchie, Armstrong; and
Margee Wolff, Westmoreland.
Margee was also the trophy winner
in this category.
In the junior engineering
competition Jeremy Woodling of
Beaver County was a blue ribbon
winner and captured the trophy.
Emily Ross from Indiana County
received the trophy in the general
category for juniors while Erin
Chestnut, Armstrong County,
received a blue ribbon. Emily’s
sister, Pam, won the trophy for the
senior division in the general
category.
Cindy Cockroft of Butler won the
junior title for her plant science
demonstration. An Indiana County
resident, Diane Bell took the 1
trophy in the senior plant science
group. Patrick Zagrodnichek, also
a resident of Indiana, won the
junior animal science category,
while Christian Murphy,

A team of Christy Vosnick and
Rosemary Stark, both of
Washington county, left the ac
tivities day with the trophy in the
senior foods and nutrition
category. Susan Bell, Indiana;
Jody Nesbit, Indiana; and Susie
Robinson, Beaver; all went home
with blue ribbons.
In the home and family
management department Tricia
Real, Butler, received the trophy.
Tricia is a senior 4-H member.
Joanne Boone of Beaver county
received the top score in the junior
home and family management
category, while Christa Gallagher
of Fayette received a score of 90 or
above. Debbie Beatty, Indiana,
won in the junior foods and
nutrition department.
In the senior animal science
category a team from West
moreland County received the
honors. Mary Ann McTighe and
Desiree Smith were the to winners,
with Dee Ambrose, Westmoreland,

Athens. The pageant came at the Pamela Whipple, the 17-year-old
end of a full day of activities. daughter of Robert and Anita
Melissa is the 17-year-old Whipple of Towanda, was named
daughter of John and Sheila Wilcox alternate princess. Pamela will be
of Troy. She will be a senior at a senior at Athens Area High
Troy Area High School, where she School and plans to attend college
to become a dietitian.
