Kruesi joined the College of Agriculture faculty on June 1. Kruesi came to Penn State from Cornell University, where he was teaching and earning a doctorate in animal science. From 1980 to 1984 he was as an extension agent in Windsor County, Vermont, and ran his own family farm in Woodstock, Vermont. His book, The Sheep Raiser’s Manual, was published this year. In addition to the orchard and gar den, we had steers, poultry, 85 ewes, and even some purebred Yorkshire hogs for a while,” said Kruesi. Kruesi’s job is about half managing the Circleville Farm, half teaching. “It’s the kind of teaching I like: one-one-one, ex tension-style work,” said Kruesi. This coming fall Kruesi will also do some classroom teaching for a course in farm skills. “Each week we’ll sit down and decide what needs doing at the farm, then we’ll go doit.”
