    Three couples honored'at Pennmarva Co-op convention

ARLINGTON, Va. - Three
Pennsylvania dairy farm couples
were chosen top winners at the 15th
Pennmarva Young Cooperator
Convention, June 21 at the Rosslyn
Westpark Hotel.
Their selection wss the highlight
of a three-day session featuring
cooperative education programs,
visits to Congressman and
Senators and judging in in
terviews, farming ac
complishments and agricultural
and community leadership.
Winners from the three par
ticipating dairy cooperatives are-
Doug and Pam Kilgore, Airville,
York County, for Dairymen, Inc.;
Clifford and Joyce Blank, Kinzer,
Lancaster County, for Interstate
Milk Producers Association; and
Douglas and Barbara McCulloh,
Mercersburg, Franklin County, for
Maryland and Virginia Milk
Producers Association.
The three couples, along with
runners-up, will represent their
respective cooperatives at various
local, state, and national dairy
activities over the next year

an uncle. Milking herd at Kildary
Farms includes 95 registered
Holsteins and Brown Swiss, with
500 owned and 100 rented crop
acres. The couple has two
daughters, Rebecca and Rachel.
Among their various activities are
the Young Dairymen chapter,
Young Farmers association and
serving as leaders in their church’s
youth program.
Runners-up for 1985 Young
Dairymen honor are Myron and
Teresa Pomraning, of Delta.
Clifford and Joyce Blank, In
terstate’s young cooperators, milk
a herd of 73 registered Holsteins on
their leased Kinzer farm, with a
herd average of 17,245 milk and 648
fat. Feed is all purchased. Both are
actively involved in their Sandy
Hill Mennomte Church, where Cliff
plays on the softball team and
belongs to a Bible study group
First runners-up for Interstate
are Littlestown dairy farmers
David and Barbara Kehr. Second
are Phillip and Joy Shertzer,
third, John and Gail
Frederick, New Hope; and fourth,
Robert and Betty Peifer, Kirk
wood.
