E2O-Lancaster Farming, Saturday, June 1,1985 Automatic Mist Sprayer The Automatic MB2O Mist Sprayer offers economical fly and mosquito control. The MB2O can be operated with any tractor which has PTO and a 3-point hitch, mounts and dismounts in seconds. The Mist Sprayer utilizes a powerful fan to create a turbulent air stream. Insecticides are sprayed into the air stream, creating a cloud of small droplets which cover more area with active ingredient and save up to 50% on chemicals. The sprayer creates a swath up to 150-foot wide at tractor speeds up to 5 miles an hour, so it covers lai ' areas in a short time. STEEL CULVERT PIPE Used carbon steel storage tanks which we have removed the end (heads). Lifting lugs attached. No coating. These tank shells make an inexpensive, quick and strong bridge. Tank shells buried with 3 feet of ground cover can support 80,000 lbs. CONCRETE CULVERT PIPE Factory Seconds, interlocking. Inner core consists of heavy steel pipe encased in concrete. A deficiency of zinc, magnesium, iron or other micronutrient-even for the shortest period-may severely limit the crop’s yield potential and return on the far mer’s N-P-K investment, he adds. “Additional N, P, K and even sulfur can be sidedressed during cultivation,” he notes. “But when it comes to applying small doses of micronutrients, you can’t beat the response time or the efficiency of a proven foliar fertilizer.” Johnson says foliar micronutrients such as NZN, NMG or NFE are designed for use on crops with high-yield potential and are generally not recommended as Price, F. 0.8 Quarryville •18/Ft. soil deficiencies replacements for good soil fer tility. “But if the crop is under stress from excess moisture, hail, disease, soil compaction or other condition that prevents roots from absorbing soil nutrients, a foliar fertilizer can nurse the crop through the stress period until it can function on its own,” he ex plains. In situations where soils can genuinely short of micronutrients, multiple applications of a foliar fertilizer may be needed to sustain an adequate nutrient balance in the crop, he says. But a micronutrient deficiency is not a prerequisite for getting crops to respond to a foliar-applied micronutnent fertilizer, Johnson says. Research by Arcadian Corporation and several land grant colleges has turned up yield increases in fields that were not considered to be short on ['”♦ BELIEVE IT! ] | $3,895 00 I MITSUBISHI IiSAVE •1 NOW i'l The Buy J • Of ' B5 j Mower not included in prici Buynt finest compact u g< performance in this powerful unit with these standard features • 3-point hitch • 3-speed rear power takeoff • Overrunning clutch • Differential lock • 2-cylinder, water-cooled, 15-hp diesel engine WRITE OR CALL "Stniet Is Our Mofft" LAWN CARE OF PA. Foliar micronutrients can be applied by air or with a high clearance sprayer, preferably with a routine pesticide to save a trip across the field. They can also be metered through overhead sprinkler irrigation systems. Johnson reminds farmers that there are two types of foliar fer tilizers-those that actually are designed specifically for foliar application, and soil fertilizers that are adapted for foliar use. Quality foliar fertilizers solutions made specifically for foliar application generally allow farmers to apply greater quan tities of fertilizer in a single pass. They also mix easily with most other pesticides. 171 Quarry Road Leola, PA 17540 (717) 656-2120
