Closing prices on slaughter
steers and heifers were steady
with last week after erasing early
week advances. Demand con
tinued good, but with declines
posted in wholesale beef channels,
pressure was exerted on live cattle
prices. Heavy cattle are still very
noticeable but discounts are not as
severe as during the period 2
weeks ago. However, buyers are
cautious on these kinds. Slaughter
cows firm to 1.00 higher, slaughter
bulls firm.
Estimated 5 day receipts of
cattle this week 11,000 compared to
actuals of 7687 last week and 11898
last year. Slaughter steers made
up 53 pet of the weeks receipts,
heifers 39 pet, cows 5 pet and
feeder cattle 1 pet.
