In fermenting crops, such as
alfalfa, corn, sorghum and high
moisture grains, certain bacteria
change carbohydrates into organic
acids, principally lactic and acetic
acids. These acids are nature's own
food preservatives and mold
inhibitors. When enough of these
milk acids are produced, the fer
mentation stops and the feed is
preserved. However, tne bacteria
that make these organic acids do not
grow in the presence of oxygen The
flow of oxygen can be eliminated by
installing a MAY-CO SILO LINER
inside your silo, which also
eliminates juice run-off In an oxygen
free ferment, the silage will not
freeze to the silo wall, will not
shrink, will not mold or heat bet
ween feeding even in hot weather,
