Slaughter Steer and Heifer
prices 1.50-2.00 lower than last
week. A large supply of Steers
weighing over 1300 lbs. and Heifers
over 1100 lbs. coming to market
was a major factor for the sharp
decline This supply of these
weight animals and those showing
an increase percentage yeild grade
4 worked together to put pressure
on prices at the carcass level
Slaughter Cows 1.00-1.50 higher,
instances 2.00 up. Slaughter Bulls
firm
Estimated 5 day receipts of
cattle this week 11,000; compared
to actuals of 9,982 last week and
13,384 last year. Slaughter Steers
made up 55 percent of this week’s
receipts; Heifers 30 percent, Cows
5 percent, and Feeders 9 percent.
