HARRISBURG - Eight Penn
sylvania agribusinesses are
travelling to Kansas City,
Missouri, this weekend to take part
in the second NASDA National
Food and Agriculture Exposition.
The firms will be among more
than 300 United states food and
agricultural businesses competing
for sales to more than 1,000 buyers
from six continents at the ex
position.
The Pennsylvania concerns
include: Colonial Foods In
ternational of Philadelphia,
exhibiting frozen beef and entrees;
Deep Roots Trading Company of
Lewisburg, exhibiting seasonings
and freeze-dried vegetables;
Furmans of Northumberland, with
their line of canned vegetables;
Hanover Brands of New Freedom,
exhibiting their canned
vegetables; Heinz U.S.A. of Pitt
sburgh, canned vegetables and
condiments; Knouse Foods, Inc. of
Biglerville, with canned fruits,
fruit juices and pie fillings; the
Pennsylvania Apple Marketing
Board; and Winmix (and
associated food equipment com
panies) of Lewistown, with its line
of dry ice cream mixes and
flavorings.

promotion activities, coordinated
by the Maryland Holstein
Association and the Middle
Atlantic Milk Marketing Agency
(MAMMA).
“Milk. It’s Fitness You Can
Drink” posters and sweatshirts
and nutrition information were
distributed to attentive school
children, and they also had a
chance to get a first-hand look at a
cow and leam about how she
makes milk.
Agribusinesses to promote Pa* foods at national
The Pennsylvania firms will be
exhibiting their wares in a state
pavilion designed to create further
recognition of the quality and
value of Pennsylvania’s farm and
food industries. The Pennsylvania
delegation was contacted and the
exhibit is being coordinated by the
state Agriculture Department’s
Bureau of Agricultural
Development.
The NASDA National Food and
Agriculture Exposition is jointly
sponsored by the National
Association of State Departments
of Agricutlure and the Foreign
Agricultural Service of the U.S.
Department of Agriculture.
During the exposition, seminars on
practical export-import topics will
be held for both exhibitors and
buyers.
The show is designed exclusively
for foreign buyers, and is open to
every conceivable type of food,
beverage and agricultural
product.

Search is on for York
Dairy Princess candidates
YORK - Candidates are being
sought for the 1985-86 York County
Dairy Princess, to represent the
county’s dairy industry at public
and milk promotional events.
The winner will be crowned by
current princess Judy Perry
during a pageant at 8 p.m. May 25
at the 4-H Center at Bair. She will
represent the county at the state
pageant at Harrisburg in Sep
tember.
Candidates must be the daughter
of a dairy farmer, dairy farm

Pennsylvania’s share of the
agricultural export market has
been increasing, and was at ap
proximately $6OO million in 1984.
Department officials credit the
activity and aggressiveness of
Pennsylvania agribusinesses for
the increase.
The first NASDA National Food
and Agriculture Exposition in
Atlanta in 1983 saw more than 1,200
foreign hovers from 78 countires
