Apple Market
Newsservice
Tuesday, February 26
Report Supplied the PDA
Good Morning. The market is
strong this week with demand
high. Prices are holding steady
and supplies are good.
Exports are continuing with
shipments to Central and South
America reported this week.
Those of you who have attended
your county association’s winter
meetings have heard of the ac
tivities of the Pennsylvania Apple
Marketing Board. You have heard
about the various promotions and
advertising that your board has
done for you in 1984. These ac
tivities have brought Pennsylvania
apples to the attention of million olf
consumers. Your Apple Marketing
Board has expanded its activities
to a year-round promotional effort
by putting on a strong fall
promotion, a good winter-spring
rebate program, and participating
in many trade and consumer
shows all year long.
There will be referendum held
later this year to determine that

Pennsylvania apple growers want
this program to continue for
another five years. Growers will
receive ballots later this year,
probably late April or early May.
Give this vote your careful con
sideration. Consider what the
board has done for apple growers
in Pennsylvania over the past 17
years that the Pennsylvania Apple
Marketing Program has been in
existence, and then vote.
Prices quoted are wholesale,
truckload, F. 0.8. at the orchard or
packing house.
