are two of the types of picnics

Sandy said most customers
appreciate cleanliness and the
service offered by Triple G.
Triple G began as a family
jugging operation in 1966. Donald
Graybill, one of the three brothers
who makes up the “triple” says
they decided to go into jugging
because, “We felt we weren’t
getting a fair price for milk. There
were quite a few juggers in Penn
sylvania - it was a profitable
thing then, but our costs keep going
up.”
Arthur and Irvin are the two
brothers who make up the part
nership with Donald and who still
operate the farms and market. The
brothers milk about 190 cows and
the milk processing is still done on
the premises, and customers enjoy
paying jugger prices at the
supermarket.
Brian Nissly, supermarket
manager, says they process 5,500
gallons of milk weekly. They bottle

their milk in durable, clear plastic
returnable bottles. Nissly says
people prefer the clear plastic to
cartons. They also offer non
returnable plastic as an option to
their customers.
They make their own ice cream,
and an ice cream parlor adjoining
the store does a big business in
both cones and packaged ice
cream. The parlor also offers a
luncheon menu. Triple G makes
about 30 flavors of ice cream,
processing two days a week.
With their small jugging
operation, the Graybill brothers
offered a small line of convenience
groceries. Donald says they ex
panded to the supermarket “so we
could offer more of our farm
products.” The present farm
market was built in 1977 and was
expanded about two years ago.
He said they feel they are
providing a service for the Denver-
Romqtown '••■pa offering one of
the widest varieties of products.
Promoting milk goes along with
their grocery line. They run
promotions during June Dairy
Month, but this month had a cheese
promotion going in the lobby of the
supermarket where they often
offer specials. A cow is a standard
fixture in the lobby, offering kids
the chance to climb on it, hug and
kiss it. When they move the cow to
another area, Nissly says children
wonder where it is.
Brian states, “We try to serve
our customers to the best of our
ability.”
For most of us, Fashtnacht Day
means the opportunity for a sweet
treat. For Triple G Farms, it
means a lot of planning, lots of
extra work and the good feeling
which comes from offering the
public a taste of what it wants. In
this case, a delicious taste of pre-
Lenten indulgence
