The grand champion was exhibited by Carol Griffith of Washington county. Although Carol has exhibited at Farm Show for four years,' this was her first big win. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Griffith, Carol won this coveted title with her Duroc hog. The 226-pound Champion was bred on her parent’s farm where they farrow about 30 Duroc and Landrace sows. The reserve champion market hog was owned by first year 4-H member, Judy Petersheim of Chester county. Judy does not live on a farm, but raises her 4-H project annuals on the Beam farm. The Beam family encouraged Judy to continue her project work into the winter with a Farm Show entry. Judy is the daughter of Walter and Lorraine Petersheim of Elverson. Carol’s entry was the champion lightweight hog, and Judy’s was the champion middleweight. The champion light-heavyweight was exhibited by Julie Myers of York county. Reserve champion light heavyweight was exhibited by Kristine Miller of York county. In the heavyweight division, Chris Hopple of Cumberland county claimed top honors. The Showmanship contest followed type judging. Judge LaVern Weller commented on the quality of showmanship exhibited throughout the age divisions.
