And to back up this claim, Velsicol
Chemical Corporation has an
nounced a new program to protect
Banvel users and their neighbors
against soybean yield loss, ac
cording to Guy Mikel, Com Market
Manager for Banvel.
“In the past, growers may have
been concerned about drift
damage from Banvel,” says Mikel.
“At mature growth stages Banvel
may injure soybean crops.
“But in situations where Banvel
is applied according to label
specifications and when corn is
spike to five inches tall-which is
the best time to control annual
broadleaf weeds and perennial
seedlings anyway-there is little
chance of drift damage,” he says.

Guarantee against soybean herdicide damage
“We are so certain, that this
season we are providing a Soybean
Protection Guarantee to com
growers,” he continued.
Under the Soybean Protection
Guarantee program, Velsicol will
compensate a grower or neighbor
for measurable soybean loss
caused by Banvel herbicide drift,
when applied according to label
directions.
Velsicol will reimburse the
owner of the soybeans for actual
soybean yield losses with Banvel
herbicide equivaunt to twice the
value of the loss. The guarantee
also applies to neighbors of far
mers who make the application. It
covers soybean loss in fields
directly adjacent to treated fields.
Banvel must be applied to corn
less than 10 inches tall, and ad
jacent soybeans must be less than
10 inches tall and not flowering.
