Report Supplied the PDA
Demand on the export market is
beginning to show signs of slowing
down. Perhaps this slowdown is a
normal holiday lull since there is
word of increased activity in ex
ports after the first of the new
year. Shipments this past week
have been to Norway, Iceland and
the nations of the Caribbean Sea
basin. Prices are holding in the
export market at $B.OO to $lO.OO for
traypacked fruit.
Demand in the domestic market
continues fair to good and prices
are remaining steady. Western
bagged apples are beginning to
appear in some eastern markets.
Reports received here indicate
that some are in the Memphis
market area and there is a promise
of more to come all over the east.
This will have a significant effect
on your markets for the balance of
the selling season. You should
consider this competition when you
make your plans to move the
balance of your crop.
Domestic prices quoted are
wholesome, truckload, F. 0.8. at
the orchard and packing house.
