totals for Erie DHIA
ERIE Two families shared the
honors for top herd averages for
milk and fat this year in Erie
County. Paul and Matt Senita,
Wattsburg, and David L.
Brumagin, Union City, achieved
the high averages, according to the
annual Erie County DHIA sum
mary for the testing year ending
Sept. 30.
The Senita’s registered Holstein
herd, with the top butterfat
average, had 762 lbs. fat and 19,162
lbs. milk. The highest milk
average was 20,368 lbs. on the
Brumagin herd, which also
achieved 743 lbs. fat.
Sixteen dairymen surpassed 650
lb. fat averages in the county. All
of the top herds were of the
Holstein breed.
The Erie County DHIA finished
the year with an average of 6,580
cows producing 15,182 lbs. milk
and 553 lbs. butterfat.
Officers of the DHIA include:
Donald Vogt, president; Ted
Thompson, vice president; Dave
Wade, secretary-treasurer; and
Milan Pavkov, state director.
