GALLERY Janelle Kennedy,
Butler, and Janet Jones, Mars,
received the highest awards at the
Butler County 4-H Dairy Club’s
annual banquet on Nov. 15 at the
Gallery Fireball.
Janelle received the Outstanding
Junior Member award, while
Janet, in her last year of 4-H work,
received the Senior award from
leaders George Dean, Chicora, and
Barbara Rader, Connoquenessing.
Youth competing for the year
end awards were judged on par
ticipation, activities, and
leadership in the club and other
outside activities, and on their
project books.
Each of the girls received
plaques sponsored by Farm
Credit, Butler, and will have their
names engraved on a permanent
plaque at the Butler County Ex
tension office.
President Jeff Kennedy, Butler,
awarded this year’s Friend of the
Club award to Mrs. Curt Wible,
Butler, for her dedicated service
for leading her Girl Scout troop in
supplying the materials and for

Butler Co. 4-H daily youth honored at annual banquet
making the grand champion
banners for all breeds at the
county round-up for the last two
years.
The Wibles operate a registered
Holstein dairy farm, along with
Curt’s father, William, and their
five children. The two eldest
children are members of the 4-H
county club.
Amy Kline, Mars; Jason Ken
nedy, Butler; and Amber Leslie,
Connoquenessing, each received
the traditional 4-H mug as first
year members, while five other
members received trophies con
cluding their membership with the
club. Honored were: Jeff Kennedy,
president; Chuck Stephenson,
Chicora, vice president; Janet
Jones; Judy Beahm, Evans City;
and Jackie Reno, Valencia.
The officers were also given pins
for their service to the club. Along
with Jeff and Chuck were Jill and
Janelle Kennedy, secretary and
treasurer, and Lena Rader, news
reporter and historian, Con
noquenessing.
Top project book awards went to
Ryan Graham, Connoquenessing,
and Tim Kellerman, Evans City, in
the boy’s competition. Janet Jones,
Rachel and Judy Beahm and
Janelle Kennedy won project book
awards in the girl’s competition.

for the top project story written on
his Jersey yearling heifer.
