Slaughter steer and heifer prices
advanced 1.00-1.50 over last week’s
levels under good buyer demand
Dressed beef price advances, good
buyer demand and a reduction ir
slaughter were dominant factors
for price advances. Slaughter cows
under pressure all week but some
recovery noted late and trends
were only 50-1.00 lower than last
week’s levels. Slaughter bulls
remained near steady.
Estimated 5 day receipts this
week 7,700; actual receipts last
week 9,883 and 12,245 last year.
Steers comprised 45 percent of the
week’s receipts; heifers 31 per
cent, cows 8 percent and feeders 14
percent.
