Nittany Lion
Fall Classic Succeeds

STATE COLLEGE - There
were smiles all around at the
conclusion of the Nittany Lion Fall
Classic, the consignment Holstein
sale held Friday, Nov. 2, and
managed by the Penn State Dairy
Science Club and the Pa. Holstein
Association.
The dairy science students were
pleased that their first-ever con
signment sale came off without a
hitch.
Bill Nichol and the members of
the PHA expressed satisfaction
with the sale average, which
topped $2OOO.
College of Ag alumni enjoyed the
chance for a reunion with their
friends in the new Ag Arena.
And, of course, the consigners
and buyers relished the mer
chandising opportunities offered
by the Nittany Lion Fall Classic.
Topping the sale were two un
born ET heifers, a March 1985 calf
out of Tri-Pond Ivanhoe Aaggie
bringing $12,000, and a December
Swampy-Hollow Sugar-Twin
daughter following at $ll,OOO.
Consigned by Shayne and
JY' t>, Jttany Lion Fall Classic were Earl
and Tamie Campbell, center, of Lykens. Along with 6 head of
quality Holsteins, the Campbells got two tickets to Saturday’s
Penn State football game. Marcia Minor and Mark Wolfskin
presented the tickets.

Chairman. The 94-2 E Aaggie dam
has a seven years and seven month
365-day record of 32,360 lbs. milk
and 1121 fat lbs. And the maternal
granddam’s best record topped
30,000 lbs. milk as well.
Purchaser of the top seller was
the Nittany Lion Syndicate, Daniel
Crull, Camp Hill.
An Elevation daughter, the
unborn ET consigned by Donald M.
Hostetter, Parkesburg, brought
$ll,OOO from Janelle Holsteins,
Skowkegan, Maine. A full sister to
the ET, a 2E with excellent
mammary and a 26,000 lb. milk
record, brought $41,000 at the
Swampy Hollow Dispersal.
Third-high of the Classic was
Schmelway Brenda Elevation,
consigned by Kermit Martin,
Quarryville, and taken home by
Richard Hartle, Bellefonte, for
$3,700.
The 2E-90 Brenda Elevation has
a record as a 5-year-old of 27.471
milk, 1216 fat, with a 4.4 percent
test.
