states Karen. She believes so
strongly in the value that she
transports many of her students to
the riding sessions after school.
All participants and han
dicapped riders are enrolled in the
Carroll County 4-H program. Many
riders become involved in regular
4-H projects and activities such as
camp or fashion revue shows.
Everyone involved with 4-H
handicapped riding benefits as a
result. Non-impaired 4-H members
and the other volunteers learn to
interact and stimulate new
friendships. Anyone observing
even briefly, quickly realizes the
friendly atmosphere and positive
attitudes that surround this
program.
Carroll County maintains a very
successful system in which all
precautions are taken to ensure
that each individual has 11 possible
needs fulfilled. Many more people
could benefit by becoming exposed
to a heartwarming and en
couraging program like the Carroll
County 4-H Handicapped Riding.

Fall is the season when we enjoy
the beautiful foliage that adorns
the trees. Mostly this is the leaves

seem to contribute the largest
share. But, there are piles of
apricot, mulberry, wild cherry,
pear, persimmon, black walnut
and oak in our yard. This doesn’t
