The Oct. 13 meeting of Lancaster
Society 6 was a “day out.” The
group had lunch at the Country
Table Restaurant and then went to
see and buy at the Kreider
chrysanthemum farm.

11 at the Mechanic Grove Brethren
Church. The group entertained two
officers Mrs. Harry Hershey Jr.
and Mrs. Arlene Witman. Mem-
bers of Lancaster Society 15 were
also present.

16 at the home of Mrs. Albert Fry,
Manheim, for a work night.
Four projects benefittmg homes
for the aged were finalized during
Lancaster Society 34
Lancaster Society 34 met on Oct.
15 at the home of Marcia Harnish.
Each member is to bring $3.50 to
the next meeting for the Christmas
ornament the group will be
making.
The State Convention will be held
on Jan. 14 and 15. In the coming
year, the group will be entertained
by Society 4 and will entertain
Society 28.

Berks Society 6 met on Oct. 16 at
the Yellow House Hotel for a
dinner meeting. Seventeen
members were present for the
meal in celebration of National
Farm Women’s Day.
Members voted to accept Mrs.
William Hartman as a new
member. The Oley Fire Co. Ladies
Auxiliary has agreed to share
responsibility for the sales held at

Green Valley Society 26 held
their October meeting at the home
of Mary Hake with 17 members in
attendance.
Thirteen members will attend Wilt in charge of the program and
the York County Convention at games.

program will be craft night.

care of Christmas gifts for the
Hamburg Center and elderly
people.
The Nov. 20th meeting will be
held at 8 p.m. in the Oley, R 1 home

NEWARK, Del - Eva S. Deese
has joined the Delaware
Cooperative Extension Service as
a 4-H agent in New Castle County,
effective Oct. 1. She will work for
Delaware State College out of the
Wilmington extension office at 1011
Park Place.
A native of Virginia, Deese holds
a bachelor’s degree in home
economics and business, and a
master s degree in home
economics education from
Virginia State University. She has
had experience as a 4-H volunteer
leader and as an extension intern.
Most recently she worked as an
urban 4-H technician in Chester
field County, Va.
Deese is a member of Kappa
Omicron Phi national home
economics honor society and Phi
t’heta Kappa national honor
society. She has received
numerous awards for her com
munity and professional activities
As 4-H agent, she will work with
young people in Wilmington and
New Castle County
Debbie Fagley named
scholarship nominee
UNIVERSITY PARK - Debbie
Fagley of Trappe, who has com
piled an outstanding record in 4-H
work, was named state Alpha
Gamma Rho Scholarship nominee
in the 1984 4-H National Awards
Program.
Fagley was a 4-H National
Clothing Award winner in 1983.
Support for the Alpha Gamma
Rho Scholarship is provided by the
Educational Foundation AGR.
Carroll L. Howes, associate 4-H
youth program director at the
Pennsylvania State University,
who announced the award selec
tion, said Debbie was judged on the
basis of project work, leadership
ability, and participation in county
and state activities.
Fagley was picked from among
the more than 145,000 youth who
annually participate in the ex
tension service educational 4-H
program.
The daughter of Kenneth and
Donna Fagley, she is a freshman
at the Pennsylvania State
Universify. She has been a 4-H
member for 10 years.
A member of the Trappe
Community 4-H club, she served as
president and secretary. She also
assisted with county activities and
events as a teen leader. She has
completed projects in rabbit
production, quilting, clothing,
entomology, photography, crafts,
puppetry and others.

She took part in the 4-H State
Achievement Days, Citizenship
Short Course, Capital Days, and
served as a 4-H camp counselor.
She also participated in the
Leadership Congress and Farm
Show.
She is one of 45 Commonwealth 4-
H members selected 'as state
contest winners in the various
project categories.
