City Award, will host the kickoff
event which will feature noted
food-writer, restauranteur and
honorary farm-city week chair
man Betty Groff as the featured
speaker.
Groff is the author of “Betty
Groff’s Country Goodness Cook
book” and has appeared on the
“Today Show" and “People Are
Talking” to share her tips on
country cuisine. Her recipes have
been published in “Woman’s
Day,” “Country” and “Bon Ap
petit” magazines. She and her
husband Abe operate the in
ternationally famous four-star
restaurant, Groff’s Farm
Restaurant in Mt. Joy.
Members of the Pennsylvania
Farm-City Council, represen
tatives of the Pennsylvania
Deptment of Agriculture and
Pennsylvania Commodity Queens
will also be on hand for the kickoff
luncheon.

Friday’s events include ap
pearances by Pennsylvania
Commodity Queens, and on
Saturday there will be a cooking
contest featuring dairy foods and
pork, a poster contest for
elementary school children, and a
“Sheep to Shawl” demonstration.

Saturday include an egg omelet
cooking demonstration, exhibits
and displays by the Pennsylvania
Beekeepers Association, the In
terstate Dairy Council, and other
agricultural associations, as well
as a farm animal exhibit and a
farm equipment display.
SENIOR CITIZENS FARM TOUR
The “60+ Group” from St.
Andrews Presbyterian Church will
tour local farms and attend a lunch
hosted by Farm Womens Group #5.
Area Agency on Aging director
Michael Kristovensky will be the
guest speaker.
FARMERS TOUR INDUSTRY
Area farmers will tour the Daily
News and Cleaver Brooks in the
morning, followed by lunch at the
Friendship Fire Hall.
BUSINESS PEOPLE TOUR
FARMS
Area business people will have
the opportunity to tour a feed mill,
a steer fattening operation, and a
dairy farm, followed by lunch
hosted by Farm Women Group #ll.
FARM-CITY BANQUET
The final event of Lebanon’s
Farm-City Week will be a banquet
at Kenbrook Bible Camp at 7 p.m.
Participants in the “Job Ex
change” - three business people
and three farmers who traded
places for day - will relate their
experiences. The 1984 “Job Ex
change” participants are Shelly
Karsnltz, Dauphin Deposit Bank
and Trust Co.; George Lesher,
Lesher Buick-Pontiac; George
Kapp, Kapp Advertising and
farmers Connie Hoffer, Charles
Bomgardner, and Jeff Werner.
Tickets for the banquet are $7.50
