A24— Lancaster Farming, Saturday, November 3,1984 Draft horses added to KILE entries HARRISBURG Draft horses will compete for the first time in the 27-year history of the Keystone International Livestock Exposition (KILE), which continues through Wednesday at the Farm Show Complex, according to state Agriculture Secretary Penrose Hallowell. “The addition of these magnificent animals to the schedule of competition promises to make the 28th edition of KILE the best show ever,” said Hallowell, noting that an estimated 100 entries, including Clydesdale, Belgian and Percheron horses are slated for judging in the large arena on Wednesday. The draft horse entries boost the total number of animals entered at KILE over the 3,150 mark. Sheep class entries account for over one-third of the total entries with 1,756, compared to 1,536 in 1983. Beef cattle entries numbered 735, compared to 788 last year, while swine entries totaled 556, over the previous year’s total of 505. Contestants will vie for $85,000 in premiums.
